I see a lot of great people who always advertise that they are willing to listen to anyone who needs to give off a good rant, an ear to listen, or a shoulder to cry on. I may not be great, but I love being there for people. And while listening is good and stuff, i can see that many people are still guarded about themselves, most likely to save themselves from being hurt.
This is not to chastise people, but to merely encourage those people to break out of their shell and talk about themselves. It’s important to listen to your significant other or friend, but what makes that relationship thrive and last is if you talk and share about your experiences as well.
I know your girlfriend will want to talk about her day, her problems, but I’m sure she wants to hear about your stuff too! Talking is one of the major components to making ANY relationship last, romantic or platonic. Can you imagine how boring a friendship would be if you didn’t know anything about the other person and all they did was listen?
So try sharing a story or two. Maybe it’ll bring you closer to your girlfriend/boyfriend or friend or even family member. It’s the memories of communication that keep personal relationships alive.9 notes
